The band Audio Fiction

plugged my review of their new full length, due for official release November 25, 2008, on their fans-only mailing list. Even though they got my location wrong—it’s Kansas, not Kentucky—it’s nice to be recognized in the same breath as the NYT’s Page Six, Rolling Stone, and Spin Magazine.

The band got its first amazing review from a music blog site down in Kentucky [sic], called Three Star Smash. [...] The full review is here: http://www.threestarsmash.com/2008/09/audio-fiction-2008/

The Arusha Accord

a technical prog-metal band out of Reading, UK have included a snippet of the Three Star Smash review of their EP Nightmares of the Ocean in their press kit, alongside clips from music rags like Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and others.

“The Escapist” Magazine

They featured my writing in their October 2006 issue with an excerpt from Where the Stone Falls:

While many of the stories are obviously just thrown up on a lark, pigeonholing fics as tongue-in-cheek parodies does a disservice to many more serious offerings. While fan fiction about epic games is often constrained by the existing back story, writers use the relatively blank slates of story-free games to create everything from thought experiments on a Lemming’s existential crisis, to examinations of Tetris as a metaphor for communism, to politically-charged treatises on the nature of war, such as this one from “Asteroids: Where the Stone Falls” by Luke Rounda…

RainDog’s Rants

A pop culture and audiophile blog based in Rochester, NY, noticed and apparently got a kick out of some Listmania! lists currently posted on my Amazon.com profile. I tried to get back to them about writing for their blog, but never received a response.

What makes him stand out is he’s actually angry enough about the releases on his list to sit and take 30-45 minutes to create the list…which is…I don’t know,….I like him. I want him to write for Raindog’s Rants. However, he probably thinks I suck. I’d hope that wouldn’t deter him from writing on the site…

Ahimsa Theory

A great Eugene, Oregon alt-rock/power pop band. They’ve plugged my Amazon Listmania! mini-review of their We Screen For Thieves EP in their press kit:

This Eugene, Oregon band’s self-titled debut was not released in 2006, but their EP “We Screen For Thieves,” which I’m recommending, was. Amazon doesn’t sell it, however, so get it from CDBaby or their dotcom. If their next full length is anywhere in the same ballpark, we’re in for a treat.
